Keep Volusia Beautiful is preparing to host their final beach cleanup of 2024 this week, giving residents a chance to volunteer to help their community stay clean and litter-free. This week's cleanup will be taking place in Ponce Inlet.
The beach cleanup will be happening on Saturday, December 7th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. The meeting point will be at Winterhaven Park, located at 4589 S. Atlantic Ave in Ponce Inlet. The park is across the street from the 7-Eleven store, between two tennis courts on the east side of the road.
Those interested in attending are asked to reserve their spot by reaching out to Lynne Walter by emailing lwalter@volusia.org, so that enough materials can be brought for the number of people who attend to help the cleanup. Those who participate will get to seek out and remove trash and debris left on the beach near Winterhaven Park.
Participants will get a grabber and a bucket, and then be sent out to collect litter. At the end of the cleanup, a tally will be taken of how much debris is picked up in order to keep a running log of how successful the program is at fulfilling its name: keeping Volusia County beautiful.
