Daytona Beach, FL - A facility that's been helping recovering alcoholics and drug addicts is now in need of help itself. Michael Stamps, a Fine Sober Living graduate, said that they are in need of about $10,000 just to get back to zero. A gofundme account has been set up but residents at the facility will be washing vehicles this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. at 527 N. Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach.
Stamps said the Volusia Sheriff's Office and several area tree companies are bringing their vehicles but he hopes that the community will help out.
Residents at Fine, Sober Living are required to get a job and pay their share, using a set fee schedule. Stamps said that newcomers are given about three weeks before they are required to pay. "Due to the addiction taking over people's lives, we've had a lot of people leave owing hundreds or thousands of dollars and that leaves us with the burden of trying to make up for that."
Stamps said every single person, even the owner, all the staff, everybody, is a recovering addict. "We all know where you been, we all know where we're going, where you can go. We push each other every day. We hold each other accountable. We make this place great and we're trying to clean up Daytona Beach one day at a time."
