Daytona Beach, FL - A 27-year-old Daytona Beach man is charged with unarmed burglary from an unoccupied dwelling after police found him on the ground outside the Ocean Breeze Condominiums with a broken back on New Year's Day.
DBPD responded to a call for help around 4:30 p.m. about a man falling or jumping out of a second story window.
Mcell Stroman was found and transported to Halifax Health Medical Center to be evaluated for his injuries.
One witness, who called 9-1-1, told officials that Stroman had jumped through the glass window. Another recognized Stroman as a visitor to someone in the building. At issue is how Stroman got into the apartment he jumped from, as it is currently vacant.
Officers found blood on the floor outside the front door of the apartment as well as blood on the door itself. Police report that due to the circumstances, the apartment door was breached. A search was conducted and the residence was deemed clear.
Building management is pressing charges. Those will be in addition to charges by DBPD for failure to appear for a misdemeanor drug offense. Stroman remains in the hospital. No word on when he'll be taken to the Volusia County Jail.
