Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach man is sentenced to two concurrent life sentences plus three thirty-year sentences for his crimes against his 15-year-old victim.  The State Attorney's Office reports that 28-year-old Derease Irons was found guilty of three counts of sexual battery, one count of kidnapping, and one count of witness tampering by a Volusia County Jury in August 2019.

State Attorney R.J. Larizza had this to say about the case: “The defendant kidnapped, raped and terrorized our Child Victim. The life sentence imposed by the court is well deserved. The defendant will no longer be a danger to our community.”

The crimes took place in 2016 when Irons picked the victim up at her parent's home and took her to his Daytona Beach home.  Her visit became sexual battery and kidnapping when he raped her and would not let her leave. The sexual battery continued for several days until the time the victim was left in Irons home by herself. She was able to find her own phone and send the pinned location to her mother. The victim's mother picked her up at Irons home and then they contacted law enforcement.

The witness tampering charge was added when Irons tried to stop the victim from testifying during a deposition.
