Man Shot, Killed After Alleged Road Rage Incident

A 47-year-old man was shot and killed in Port Orange on Saturday at the culmination of what law enforcement is describing as a sort of road rage incident between multiple vehicles. The victim was made out to be the aggressor in reports by the Volusia Sheriff's Office, who say the description of the event given by the shooter is supported by surveillance footage of the incident.

The dispute reportedly began shortly before 7:40 pm, when two vehicles drove past the home of Marcus Blicker. He was said to have gotten into his own truck and swerved at the two vehicles, which were being driven by the son of one of Blicker's neighbors and that son's friend. The son called his father saying he was being followed and the father was waiting at their house with a rifle when the situation arrived.

When Blicker arrived at the Jackson Lane home, the father reportedly told him to leave, before firing warning shots into the air. The VSO reports that Blicker's truck backed up, and then sped forward the father and another person who was standing in his path. At this point the father fired multiple times into the truck, the VSO says, fatally wounding Blicker. A dog in the truck was also injured but was taken into the care of Volusia County Animal Services where it's expected to fully recover.

The VSO investigated the scene and collected shell casings, as well as audio and video recordings of the incident. Blicker's body was transported to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy. No criminal charges have been levied against the shooter as of the most recent case update.

Records in the Volusia County Branch Jail database show a person by the name of Marcus Blicker whose details seem to match the description given of this story's Blicker by the VSO. Those records detail past criminal charges such as battery, domestic battery by strangulation, and driving with a suspended license.
