DeLand, FL - The mother of a seven-year-old daughter charged with Aggravated Manslaughter in her death has taken an open plea in court today (June 29), which means 28-year-old Janee Dickson will not have a jury trial. She will be sentenced by a judge, likely within 30 days but no date has been set yet.
Mother Charged With Manslaughter In 7-Year-Old's Death
The investigation began on March 6, 2018, the day Kamia Jean-Baptiste was airlifted from Florida Hospital in DeLand to Florida Hospital South in Orlando (Both are now AdventHealth facilities).
Dickson was arrested on February 14, 2020, in North Carolina and brought back to Florida. Her bond was set at $75,000 but she's been in the Volusia County Jail since her arrest.
