
New Smyrna Beach, FL - The New Smyrna Beach Police Department (NSBPD) held a ceremony to promote retired Marine Corps Warrant Officer Mark Severance to Lieutenant.
According to the NSBPD, on Tuesday, March 28, Lieutenant Severance, a New Smyrna Beach area native, was officially promoted to Lieutenant with his family present.
After graduation from high school in 1981, Severance joined the Marine Corps and had a 24-year career in the miltary, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 4 with a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
Severance returned to the New Smyrna Beach area and began a 2nd career with the NSBPD in 2006, serving as Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, SWAT, Patrol and Special Operations Sergeant. He now serves as Operations Lieutenant.
