New Smyrna Beach, FL - Police are investigating the death of an infant after it was found unresponsive.

According to the Department of Children and Families, an 8-month-old child was found unresponsive in a bucket that he supposedly fell into, where there was a plastic bag inside.

The report from New Smyrna Beach police says that one officer responded to the scene where they found another officer giving the 8-month-old CPR on the front yard of a home.

The officer was surrounded by the parents and the two owners of the property.

Another officer took over CPR and noted that the child appeared pale and blue and the skin was cold to the touch. Despite additional CPR efforts, officers were not able to get a pulse from the child.

The DCF website says that this incident is still under investigation.
