Daytona Beach, FL - The party is about to begin throughout Volusia and Flagler counties.
We're hours away from the New Year and workers are setting up for fun once the sun starts coming down.
It's the 13th year producer Al Smith has put on this free event at the World's Most Famous Beach, with Main Street open to pedestrian traffic only from 6 p.m. until the ball drops at midnight at the corner of Main and Wild Olive Avenue. Fireworks will also go off at midnight over the Atlantic Ocean near the Daytona Beach Pier.
Music acts will perform at five separate stages along Main and at the Daytona Beach Bandshell. You can also expect street performers along with lots of food, including a new wrinkle this year in food trucks, per Smith.
"We had a lot of success over our last several events working with food trucks, so we meshed them in with our regular food vendors," Smith added.
One Daytona will also hold New Year's Eve festivities, including the formal unveiling of the "Jantzen Girl" at 8 o'clock from Victory Circle.
The Jantzen Girl was an icon of Daytona's beachside for over 50 years until she was removed from her perch on Ocean Avenue last April.
The 16-foot fiberglass statue was recently renovated after One Daytona got her on loan from Perry Ellis International, the current owners of the Jantzen brand. She's now located next to Oklahoma Joe's Barbeque.
