Miami, FL - Two tropical waves are under the watchful eye of the National Hurricane Center as they move closer to the Caribbean and the Atlantic Coast.

The first and closest wave is Invest 95L, which has been monitored since Sunday (July 28th) as it moves through the Caribbean.

According to their latest report, Invest 95L is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as it moves west-northwestward.

It's expected to continue on its current path for the next several days as it produces heavy rainfall over portions of the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

As it moves over the islands, the storm has to pass over land and through mountains, which can hinder development. But, while formation chances are low for the next few days, conditions for development could improve as 95L moves closer to Florida and the northwestern Bahamas.

Another system, which has yet to be given a designation, was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic, a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands.

That storm is producing a broad area of shower activity, but there is no significant development expected in the next few days while it moves west.

But, upper-level winds could become more conducive for development by the weekend while the wave continues to trot towards the central Atlantic area.
