NWS: East Central FL Is In For Lots Of Rain & A Chance For Severe Storms

Volusia County, FL - Officials with the National Weather Service say Volusia County's in for lots of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, along with a chance for severe storms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of East Central Florida under a marginal risk for severe storms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rainfall amounts between 3 AM on Tuesday and 7 AM on Thursday are expected to range from 2.35 inches in Daytona Beach to 2.59 inches in DeLand.

Showers and storms will be possible at any time on Tuesday with a 90% chance of precipitation in the forecast, along with scattered thunderstorms. Wind gusts of 30 to 50 MPH, lightning, small hail, and heavy downpours will be possible with the most intense storms. The greatest threat for severe storms on Tuesday will be in the afternoon and early evening. Showers and storms are likely to continue through the night.

Precipitation chances will remain high on Wednesday with stronger storm chances in the afternoon.
