ORANGE CITY, Fla. - 39 year-old Eric Bonnette of Orange City was arrested Thursday night on child porn charges, the Volusia Sheriff's Office announced Friday. Bonnette is accused of possessing several sexual photos of children.
Police were reportedly alerted to Bonnette's alleged crimes when he was arrested on weapons charges on April 7th. The VSO Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation and eventually obtained a search warrant for his phone. That warrant was executed on Thursday, with ten images reportedly being found. A collection of phones, iPads, tablets, laptop computers, and a safe were taken by the VSO for further examination.
The children depicted in the images were reportedly girls ages 4-13, posed in sexually explicit manners. The VSO suspects Bonnette was downloading these images from the internet onto his personal devices. He was arrested and booked on ten counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, and is held on $1 million bond at the Volusia Branch Jail.
