Ormond Beach Business Owner Arrested for Alleged Home Thefts

Posted

The owner of a cleaning business in Ormond Beach was arrested last month on allegations that she'd stolen from customers' homes and sold the items for a profit. 33-year-old Catherine Schulz was charged with grand theft, fraud, two counts of forged identification to a secondhand dealer, and seven counts of dealing in stolen property.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office announced over the weekend that Schulz, owner of Clean and Proper LLC, was suspected of stealing a litany of valuables from a customer's home after conducting a job there. The total value of property taken was $18,500 according to the VSO. The agency said to items stolen included a pair of Adidas sneakers, jewelry, and medications.

While investigating the thefts, a detective with the VSO reportedly was able to locate the stolen jewelry at a pawn shop in Port Orange. Upon looking into the transaction, surveillance footage is said to show Schulz pawning the items at that very shop.

Schulz was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on January 29th, before posting her $10,000 bond the following day. Prior booking records show she was also charged with felony retail theft and battery in separate 2017 incidents.
