Ormond Beach, FL - Ormond Beach residents are now able to tell the city what road and water quality projects they want funded if a sales tax increase is approved by Volusia voters later this year.
In 2018, the city of Ormond Beach launched a new web-based engagement platform known as OpenGov that provides residents with city information as well as host surveys and topics concerning their city.
One of those surveys focuses on a priority list for projects to be funded with the half-cent sales tax jump, assuming voters approve it during the mail-in election starting in May.
If approved, that sales tax could generate around $45 million a year countywide for the next two decades.
All revenue generated by that tax will be earmarked to developing and creating public infrastructure projects such as new and improved sidewalks near schools, roadway improvements and flood mitigation.

The survey ends at 5:00 p.m. on March 1st.
