Ormond Beach, FL - Police in Ormond are investigating Wednesday's wreck involving a pickup truck and a dump truck that left a 77-year-old man dead.
Jerome E. Rogers of Palm Coast was driving south on US-1 in a red Ford Ranger truck when he left the roadway, went onto the right shoulder, then drove into a dump truck that was stopped at the stop sign on Hull Rd. That happened at about 7:12 AM on June 28.
Both drivers were injured and were brought to the hospital for treatment. Rogers was pronounced dead at 8:07 AM. The driver of the dump truck, which is owned by United Florida Transport, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
