Pedestrian Hit and Killed in Daytona Beach Friday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A Michigan man was killed on Friday in Daytona Beach when he was hit by a vehicle at International Speedway Blvd and Roosevelt Blvd.  He was 65 years old at the time of his death.

The man had reportedly been walking east on Int'l Speedway Blvd when he walked in front of a Volkswagen Beetle. The Beetle hit the man and killed him. Its driver and one passenger remained at the scene while emergency responders arrived. They pronounced the man dead at the scene of the accident.

An investigation is still ongoing by Florida Highway Patrol as of Monday. The incident occurred at around 9:00 pm, shortly after sundown. As of now it's unknown whether any information as to why the man was apparently walking in the roadway will be revealed by FHP.
