Ormond Beach, FL – Update: The man that robbed the Suntrust Bank in Ormond Beach over the weekend has been arrested.
While the robbery was being investigated on Saturday, a Jeep was reported as driving recklessly in the area. The Jeep was found behind a nearby Trustco Bank with the license plate removed and placed in the front seat.
The owner of the Jeep was contacted by police and said that her boyfriend, Joseph Karl Blankenbeckley, 34, was driving the car that day. Police created a photo line-up and Blankenbeckley was identified as the man who robbed the bank.
On Sunday at around 8:12 AM, Holly Hill Police received a tip that Blankenbeckley was staying at the Rollies Motor Motel located at 118 Ridgewood Ave. Holly Hill Police peacefully arrested him and turned him over to Ormond Beach Police.

Earlier Reporting: The Ormond Beach Police Department (OBPD) is looking for a man who robbed a Suntrust Bank Saturday morning. At around 10:15 AM on Saturday, police responded to a silent alarm at the Suntrust Bank located at 160 North Nova Road. Police learned that a white male passed a bank teller a note demanding money and immediately ran off after receiving it. The suspect ran out of the front door towards the back of the bank. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Air One helicopter and K-9 Units tried to help OBPD locate the suspect but were unsuccessful. The suspect was wearing a gray shirt, blue pants and a camo hat.
