DELAND, Fla. - The Volusia Sheriff's Office has confirmed they're investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in DeLand. The incident reportedly took place at around 1:55 am at the 300 block of Chipola Ave.
The victim has been identified as Korey Woulard, a DeLand resident. Woulard was 29 years old.
After police were called, an officer discovered Woulard lying in the road. An officer with the DeLand Police Department, as the first on-scene, tried to revive Woulard with CPR. He was not successful.
An investigation is ongoing with no suspect in custody as of Sunday afternoon. Anyone who may have information relevant to the case is asked to contact the Volusia Sheriff's Oddixe Major Case Unit at 386-254-1535, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS.
