DeLand, FL - If you know who’s behind the racist vandalism at Conrad Park, the DeLand Police Department would like to talk to you.
The police department says someone spotted a racial slur on Sunday (Jan. 30) on the marquee at Conrad Park. By the time officers arrived, someone had removed the lettering and given it to city employees.
At this time, the DeLand Police Department says they will pursue vandalism charges against whoever changed the sign, as tampering with a city-owned sign is considered against the law. Additionally, the department is investigating the vandalism as a hate crime and says they will seek appropriate charges with the State Attorney’s Office.
