Port Orange, FL - Port Orange PGA Golf pro Rod Perry will be heading to a Major Championship for the fifth time in six years. Perry is one of 20 professionals to qualify for the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC from August 10-13. He will be competing alongside golfing greats, such as Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, and Jordan Spieth. "I've had some good, fortunate performances at our National Club Professional Championship, and that's the reason why I've been able to qualify for these championships. I missed out on one a few years ago by a shot, and that one still burns a little bit," says Perry. "So, hopefully if I can keep my game in shape and stay healthy, hopefully I can look forward to playing in a few more."

Perry is currently the head professional of Crane Lakes Golf and Country Club in Port Orange, and his responsibilities consist of managing the entire facility, overseeing member programs, teaching, and executing player development programs. Currently, the Crane Lakes Country Club has about 176 golf members, so Perry must manage his time carefully to practice for the championship. "Hopefully, when I do get a chance to participate in a worldwide recognized event such as the PGA Championship, that it bodes well for our membership and our residents here at Crane Lakes and helps kind of bring a little light to the community and gives them a little sense of pride in where they live," says Perry.
