Daytona Beach, FL - It's already February and that means a couple of things: We're just a month away from the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) and the window to register for that primary is closing.
In order to vote in the PPP, a voter must be registered with one of Florida's major political parties, such as the Florida Democratic Party or the Republican Party of Florida. The date to make that choice is next Tuesday (February 18th).*
*Due to President's Day, the deadline has been moved to Tuesday.
But, despite the national holiday, Lisa Lewis, Volusia County's supervisor of elections, says you can still register to vote if you choose to do so in person. And you can do so beyond your local elections office.
"As long as (you) have a Florida driver's license or a Florida identification card, you can register online or visit one of the local libraries," said Lewis.
Lewis also told News Daytona Beach that it's not too late to order a mail-in ballot. The deadline to order a mail-in ballot is March 7th, 10 days before the PPP.
If you want to vote online, you can do so through the state's registration portal, RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov. If you're a Volusia resident, click here for local registration information. Flagler County residents may click here.
