DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Chicken lovers in Daytona Beach rejoice: the popular restaurant chain Raising Cane's has begun work on their first location in Volusia County.
The Raising Cane's location will be going up on International Speedway Blvd and Williamson Blvd. It will take the place of the now-defunct Pier 1 Imports, which sits as a blight amidst an otherwise busy area.
There will be two drive-through lanes at the Raising Cane's, showing that the company expects an enthusiastic response. The restaurant will be 3,267 square feet.
Raising Cane's has achieved widespread popularity in Louisiana for its never-frozen chicken tenders and french fries. It was founded in 1996 by two college students who faced strong resistance when they tried to put their plan in action. The company expanded its operations internationally in 2015 by opening in Kuwait, and has since also opened locations in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
Raising Cane's presence in Central Florida has been limited, with only a couple stores in the Orlando area so far. They'll be competing with multiple other chicken restaurants on International Speedway Blvd, such as Arby's, Chick-Fil-a, and Pollo Tropical.
