Daytona Beach, FL - When 71-year-old Jenny Sanchez of Ormond Beach came home from Ecuador, the last thing she might have been expecting was a trip to the hospital.
According to AdventHealth Daytona, Sanchez's family brought her to the hospital with with a cough, fever and shortness of breath on March 31st, shortly after her trip from Ecuador. Once at AdventHealth, Sanchez was diagnosed with COVID-19.
She was admitted to the intensive care unit, where she was intubated and on a ventilator for almost two weeks.
But, come April 18th, the news broke that Sanchez had successfully beaten the virus. However, the road to recovery was not yet over. Per medical staff, Sanchez needed additional care, which brought her to the inpatient rehab center at AdventHealth.
She needed therapy to help her with activities of daily living, such as dressing and walking, but had such a fast recovery, she was discharged two days ahead of schedule because she was doing so well, according to staff.
Then, come this week, Sanchez was finally discharged from the hospital after spending five weeks in the facility. And, her discharge didn't come without celebration.
