Retro Pay Increase For Interim Superintendent On VCSB Agenda

Posted

DeLand, FL - The Volusia County School Board meets this afternoon and there’s an agenda item that extends the appointment of Dr. Carmen Balgobin as Interim Superintendent with a salary increase retroactive to July 1. The meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. with public comment.  Elizabeth Albert, Volusia United Educators President, says there's a call out for school district employees and members of the community to take part in public participation. Call-in begins at 3 o.m. at 386-734-7190 ext 20236 .

Albert says she totally disagrees with the retroactive salary increase and that the position of deputy superintendent was created for the purpose of covering for the Superintendent when necessary.  She said a retroactive pay increase for Dr. Balgobin is a slap in the face to the almost eight thousand other employees in the Volusia County School District.

Today’s meeting begins at 3:30.
