Deltona, FL - In a week's time, Family Health Source will bring COVID-19 antibody testing to Volusia County.
According to a release sent by Representative David Santiago, who has partnered with Family Health Source, 500 tests will be released to the public as part of a measured rollout for the blood draw tests.
“These types of blood drawn tests for the antibodies are more thorough and tend to be more reliable then the finger-stick version being proposed by some. Furthermore, this large scale approach for a test of this kind is the first in Central Florida”, said Santiago.
While this test does not actually check for the virus itself, it checks to see if your immune system has responded to the infection. The hope of the test is to have a better understanding of who may have developed an immunity towards COVID-19.
Details related to the start date and times are still up in the air, but the Volusia County Fairgrounds was selected to be the testing site. Family Health Source will move their drive up site resources from Deltona and Daytona to the fairgrounds to accommodate the new test.
Regular screening and testing will still be available at the fairgrounds.
