Flagler County, FL – Several Flagler County employees have received certifications in their respective fields to better the service they provide the community.
Dana Morris, FireFlight Operations Chief, passed the Federal Aviation Administration check ride and earned instrument flight certification on Friday. The check ride was with Rick Guthery, Miami-Dade Chief Pilot, in South Florida. Morris has been an employee of the County since 2002 and has recorded more than 10,000 hours of flying.
“The FAA is now requiring all air medical helicopter pilots to be instrument certified to enhance safety nationwide,” says Morris. “FireFlight is a visual flight rules (VFR) operation, but in Flagler County, we do so at much higher safety standards than the FAA requires.”
Scott Simon, a Flagler County Growth Management employee, passed the “Legal Issues in Code Enforcement” test from the Florida Association of Code Enforcement. After being an employee since 2015, he received his certification as a Code Enforcement Officer.
Ed Rodriguez, also an employee of the Flagler County Growth Management Department, finished 3 levels of training and earned certification as a Licensing Official and Code Enforcement Professional, as required by the Construction Licensing Officials Association of Florida. Rodriguez has been a County employee since 2006.
“These certifications speak volumes about the quality and dedication of our employees,” says Craig Coffey, County Administrator. “These are people with very busy full-time jobs who make the extra effort to provide the highest quality service to our residents.”
