Daytona Beach, FL - One of the people who has been at the forefront of Volusia County's fight against COVID-19 breaks the news that he has tested positive for the virus.

Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood made that announcement as part of his daily Facebook updates regarding flagged addresses in Volusia County.

"My symptoms are on the mild side, but per my doctor's orders, I must self-quarantine for 14 days and not have face-to-face contact with anyone," wrote Chitwood on Facebook. "If there is a bright side, I am allowed to exercise outdoors, just not with other people."

Chitwood also added that residents who feel unwell or not "up to par" should get tested.

"I have no idea how I contracted this and that is a lesson in itself: Anyone can catch this," commented Chitwood.
