Stabbing At Kelly's Food Mart In Daytona Beach Prompts VCSO Investigation

Posted
Daytona Beach, FL - A fight outside of a food mart near Daytona Beach on Sunday night resulted in a stabbing that sent one man to the hospital and landed another in jail. Volusia County Sheriff's deputies went to Kelly's Food Mart on Derbyshire Rd. around 6:45 PM on May 28 where they found the store clerk helping the victim, 57-year-old David Davidson. He was found lying on his back by the store's main entrance. His shirt was covered in blood and he had cuts on his face and torso. Davidson didn't give deputies much to go on as far as a narrative is concerned, but he did give them a suspect: 51-year-old William Christy. Christy was still on scene and he had two small cuts on his face and nose. Deputies found a pocket knife and a metal pipe at the scene. The knife was found on the sidewalk not far from where Christy was standing. He told deputies that Davidson hit him with the metal pipe, but when detectives tried to interview Christy he refused to answer their questions. Christy was brought to the Volusia County Jail where he was initially being held without bond. Davidson was brought to Halifax Health where he underwent surgery. He's listed in stable condition.
