One of the most renowned rock bands of the 1970's is set to swing by Volusia County in short order. Styx, the seven-piece group formed in Chicago over 50 years ago, will be performing at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach on January 8th, 2025.
Styx released their debut self-titled album in 1972, landing the single "Best Thing" at #82 on the Billboard charts. They've continued to proficiently release albums ever since, with at least one studio album coming in each of the following decades. Seventeen albums in, their most recent effort was 2021's Crash of the Crown.
The band's most well known songs have left an undeniable cultural impact on classic rock music ever since their release. "Come Sail Away" peaked at #8 in the United States and was seen in the films Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Nitro Circus: The Movie, and The Wild as well as the TV shows South Park and The Goldbergs. Their song "Renegade", a #16 hit in the U.S., was in Freaks and Geeks and Billy Madison. Perhaps their biggest hit, 1979's "Babe", reached #1 in the United States, Canada, and South Africa.
The Styx performance at the Peabody Auditorium will start at 7:30 pm at the Peabody Auditorium on Wednesday, January 8th. Tickets, distributed through Ticketmaster, start at $49 and are currently on sale.
