DeBary, FL - Come Monday (May 11th), Central Florida's commuter train service will resume normal operations.
SunRail's continuation of service comes after Governor Ron DeSantis' announcement of a new round of reopenings, part of Phase II in his plan to reopen the state.
But, as with every other reopening, there will be extra safeguards and stipulations in effect when it comes to patrons and passengers.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, SunRail plans to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19. That entails increasing the frequency of cleaning onboard and at station platforms. Train interiors will be disinfected nightly, hand sanitizer dispensers were installed onboard and, when possible, an extra passenger vehicle will be added to allow for increased social distancing.
In addition, materials from the Florida Department of Health educating on the prevention of spreading germs have been installed along the corridor.
Passengers are encouraged to wear masks, respect the personal space of others and they're asked to adhere to social distancing as much as possible – while onboard and at the station.
All regular SunRail Connection services on LYNX will resume on Monday as well.
