New Smyrna Beach, FL - A New Smyrna Beach High School teacher is on paid administrative leave after deputies say they brought a fake rifle on campus.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office says that they responded to the school yesterday along with security personnel to investigate the situation.
According to the VSO, the rifle was brought onto the campus by a teacher, who wanted to show it to the students. Following the incident, NSBHS principal Matt Krajewski sent out a message explaining the situation to parents.
Volusia County Schools confirmed that the unnamed teacher was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
