Three People Dead In DeLand-Area Plane Crash

UPDATE (September 30): The Volusia County Sheriff's Office has identified the three people on the plane as the pilot, 27-year-old Armand Girouard of DeLand, 32-year-old Ernendro Philippe of Kissimmee and 34-year0old Shawna Carbonaro of DeLand.

DeLand, FL - Three people are dead after a small plane crashed this afternoon (September 29) in the DeLand area. According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the crash was reported around 4 p.m. in a wooded area off State Road 44 and Grand Avenue.

Several witnesses reported seeing the Cessna 421 go down. Emergency units found that all three of the people on the plane were dead.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the crash. Traffic on S.R. 44 was shut down between Grand Avenue and Old New York Avenue.

None of the people have been identified at this time, pending notification of next of kin. Check back for more details.
