Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach police say a 68-year-old Titusville man is dead after he ran a stop sign on Williamson Boulevard.
Officers were called to the scene at North Williamson Boulevard and Reliability Way Thursday night (March 11th) after witnesses called 911 and told dispatch that two vehicles had collided with each other.
Witnesses told police that a white and tan Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by the unidentified Titusville man, was headed eastbound on Reliability when the truck drove past the stop sign without stopping and merged into the southbound lanes of Williamson.
As the pickup truck merged, a white GMC SUV headed southbound towards Reliability on Williamson struck the driver's side of the pickup. The crash caused the pickup truck to spin as it crossed through the southbound lanes and into the northbound lanes on Williamson just before it flipped over. The pickup eventually came to rest on its passenger side.
Rescue workers later arrived and pulled the Titusville man out of his pickup. He was then taken to Halifax Health Medical Center as a trauma alert in critical and unstable condition. He passed away the following day from his injuries.
According to police, the driver of the SUV—a 33-year-old Holly Hill man—and his passenger—his 10-year-old son—were reported to have no injuries from the crash.
Police say there are no criminal charges pending in this case.
