DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - 2 year-old Elaya Richardson was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Daytona Beach Tuesday, and the main suspect is a relative of Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry. 23 year-old Kenyatta Henry is in custody, charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.

The incident occurred around 1:20 pm on Tuesday, near the 500 block of Fulton St. Multiple callers reported to the Daytona Beach Police Department that it had been a hit-and-run, and officers were able to locate the black Dodge Charger in question shortly thereafter following a brief manhunt.

Richardson was initially treated at Halifax Health in Daytona, before later being airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando for further care. Her condition was said to be stable at that time.

Mayor Henry has broken the silence on the grievous accusations made against his relative, saying, "I would like to express my utmost concern for the young child who was injured". He also confirmed reports that Kenyatta was a relative of his.

Kenyatta's exact relation to Mayor Henry hasn't yet been clarified. As of Wednesday he's still being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $5,000 bond.
