DeLand, FL - 5 men who were trolling a local park expecting sexual hookups were arrested during an undercover sting operation near DeLand on Friday, exposing themselves to the public.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO), the operation on Friday took place at Lake Beresford Park west of DeLand. It was conducted by the VCSO's West Volusia Crime Suppression Team in response to reports of men openly engaging in lewd activity in the park.
The VCSO reports that the activity seemed to cluster around the multi-purpose trail and adjacent wooded areas. The VCSO posted male undercover deputies in that vicinity on Friday. Soon after, the men struck up conversations with an undercover deputy and exposed themselves to the plain-clothes deputy. This resulted in charges of indecent exposure, with 1 man receiving an additional charge of battery.
The defendants, who were transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach, are as follows:
