VCSO Issuing Citations At Deltona Intersections As Part Of Ongoing Safety Operation

Posted

Deltona, FL – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) is moving on to the next step of their traffic safety enforcement operation in Deltona: the citation phase.

Previously, the VCSO issued verbal and written warnings to drivers who violated pedestrian and bicycle safety laws, totaling nearly 175 warning since the operation started in early March.

Now, with the help of a $30,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation and Alert Today-Alive Tomorrow, the VCSO will be giving traffic citations to drivers who violate safety laws, especially those involving traffic lights at intersections.

The operation’s goal is to create safer intersections at some of Deltona’s busiest by introducing a more serious consequence for drivers after only enforcing the law with education and warnings so far.

The following intersections are the focus of the citation phase of the VCSO’s operation in Deltona that begins Saturday:

  • Courtland Boulevard and Fort Smith Boulevard
  • Deltona Boulevard and DeBary Avenue
  • Deltona Boulevard and Enterprise Road
  • Elkcam Boulevard and Howland Boulevard
  • West Finland Drive and Saxon Boulevard
  • Howland Boulevard and Fort Smith Boulevard
  • Saxon Boulevard and North Normandy Boulevard
  • Tivoli Drive and Saxon Boulevard
