
Barberville, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) is investigating after a robber held up a Kangaroo store in Barberville late Friday night. They are asking for help from the public in identifying and locating the robber.
According to the VCSO, the robbery was reported a little after 11 PM, Friday, April 7. No one was injured.
The VCSO reports that the suspect entered the store on South U.S. Highway 17 and demanded money from the cash register. No weapon was seen, but the suspect held his hand in his pocket to imply he was armed and threatened to shoot 1 of the clerks if he didn't comply.
The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the robber, who fled out of the store and was last seen on foot heading towards S.R. 40 and U.S. 17. Patrol deputies along with assistance from a K-9 unit and a Sheriff's helicopter searched for the suspect, but he wasn't located.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 6' tall, 180 pounds, wearing khaki pants, a dark-colored sweater, dark shoes and a black hat.

Information also can be submitted by downloading the smartphone app from the Crime Stoppers website here. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
