Volusia Elections Office-Polling Place Changes

Posted

UPDATE: March 15 - Another polling place location, this one in Daytona Beach, is being changed due to the coronavirus.  If you vote in Precinct 626 at the Windsor Apartments, this Tuesday, March 17, you will vote at the Daytona Beach Regional Library at City Island, 105 E. Magnolia Avenue, Daytona Beach.

DeLand, FL - Two polling places are changing locations in order to protect their residents from the effects of the coronavirus. Lisa Lewis, Supervisor of Elections - Volusia County says the original locations are home to seniors.

Precinct 212 in DeLand has been at the Good Samaritan Society-Florida Lutheran. It will be relocated to the Wayne G. Sanborn Activities Center, 815 S. Alabama Avenue. “This is truly understandable and we are asking for voters’ compassion and support during this time. We are doing all in our power to prevent the spread of illness,” Lewis says.

Precinct 303 in Orange City has been at the  John Knox Village Barker Center. It will be relocated to Orange City United Methodist Church, 396 E. University Avenue, Orange City. John Knox Village is an independent living; assisted living; and nursing home facility. An emergency order from the state is limiting people into the previously mentioned facilities for the safety of residents.

“We are asking for voters’ sensitivity and support during this time. We are doing all in our power to prevent the spread of illness,” Lewis says. “We understand relocating a polling location may be an inconvenience; however, I do ask for compassion and patience as we all share the
concerns of our voters.”

The new locations will be set up as two separate precincts for this election as each was already a polling place for its own precinct. Voters registered in their respective precincts will follow signs to the correct polling area. Signs will be posted at the original polling places directing voters on where they need to go. Staff will be at each of the original polling locations to assist voters.

There's still time for early voting, today until 6 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. You can also drop off your mail-in ballot at an early voting site. If you haven't mailed it yet, it has to be in the Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17.
