Volusia Supervisor Of Elections Apologizes For Mail-In Ballot Error In Three Precincts

Posted

DeLand, FL - Voters who received mail-ballots in Precinct 638B in Daytona Beach  and Precinct 816A and 816C this week will be receiving replacements shortly. Volusia Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis says it was discovered that in the School Board District 2 race was left off of ballot styles for a  precinct split in the district located in Port Orange.  The race for House District 26, which covers Daytona Beach and DeLand, was placed on one ballot style when in fact it should have been on another; within a precinct that has a split.

“Please accept my deepest apologies for this unacceptable oversight; as there are
no excuses. I take full and complete responsibility and promise that everyone who
has received a vote by mail ballot will receive a corrected ballot in plenty of time to
vote in the Primary Election,” Lewis stated.

Lewis says that candidates contacted have been very  understanding. She says approximately 675  ballots were mailed in the initial mailing to voters a week ago today, on July 9th.

The mix-up was only on those ballots mailed out last week.  It does not affect any ballots at the early voting locations, any ballots at precinct locations on Election Day, or any future mail-in ballots.  All ballot styles have been thoroughly reviewed for accuracy. Additional procedures have been put in place for future elections.
