Volusia Tax Collector Will Roberts to Seek Re-Election

DELAND, Fla. - Will Roberts, the first-term Tax Collector of Volusia County, will seek a second term in office according to a new release. He's the first Tax Collector candidate to officially throw their hat in the ring.

In his announcement, Roberts touted his first few years in office as evidence he's fit for the job long-term. “I made a commitment that we would improve the customer service operations with our team members,” he said. “On average, over the last nine months, nearly 90% of our customers who completed surveys have given us a 4–5-star rating. As expected, we added additional services to the tax collector office, such as driver licenses, concealed weapons licenses, and birth certificates."

One item high on Roberts' priority list is the goal to open a new tax office in Deltona. A space has been leased at 1200 Deltona Blvd, with plans to offer tag, title, driver's license, and property tax services. The grand opening is slated for some time early next year.

“The residents of Deltona, Volusia County’s most populous city, need to have tax collector services convenient to them,” Roberts said. “We had to take on driver license services first, and now we can focus our attention on the build-out of this facility and making it operational."

Even with Election Day 2024 over a year and a half away, several candidates have already filed to run in Volusia County. Roberts is currently unopposed for Tax Collecter, but one candidate each has filed for Volusia County Council, Volusia School Board Districts 1 and 2, and Ormond Beach Mayor. The seats of Orange City Mayor and Ormond Beach City Commission, Zone 3, have attracted two candidates each.
