Votran Hosting Community Input Workshops This Week

Posted

South Daytona, FL - Votran is in the process of making major updates to its transit development plan (TDP), which is a ten-year strategic planning document, and they are looking for community input during workshops this week.

Bobbie King, Volusia Community Service Operations Manager says they’ll provide information and talk about how those that attend can be involved. She says they are trying to educate the public on Votran’s service and get their insight on what could be done better. "Answer questions about what they know about Votran, what they think we could do to improve the service itself, and what they could expect in the future ten years for Votran."

Public participation is an important part of developing the TDP, according to King. She says the workshops are just one way to be involved. People can also take part in an online survey and more events are planned.  "There'll potentially be other public workshops that they can get involved in. This isn't going to be the last of it. It's just the beginning and they can follow through the process for the next eight months."

The workshops are this Wednesday and Thursday, December 16 and 17. Due to COVID-19, these phase one public workshops will be held virtually from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each day.
