Welcome To Rockville Breaks Attendance Record

KISS, Korn, Guns N' Roses, & Foo Fighters Announced As 2022 Headliners

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - With 161,000 people attending its 10th run, Welcome to Rockville is now officially America’s biggest rock festival.

In addition to the hundreds of thousands of rock and metal fans who came to see the milestone event live at the Daytona International Speedway, a worldwide at-home audience of 1.2 million unique viewers enjoyed the livestream with select festival performances, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes content on the organizer’s—Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP)—Twitch page.

And with the recent announcement of Rockville’s next headliners, it’s likely to break records again next year.

Those who attended the event, or watched at home, were also the first to learn the headliners for Welcome to Rockville 2022—which is scheduled to run May 19-22. First to headline for the 11th running will be rock legends KISS on May 19, followed by nu metal genre pioneers Korn on May 20. On May 21, instead of saying “Welcome to Rockville,” fans will say “Welcome to the Jungle” as Guns N’ Roses takes the stage. Then, on the festival’s last day, Foo Fighters will rock the track on May 22.

“We knew we had to do something massive to follow the biggest Welcome To Rockville in history so we went out and got rock legends Guns N’ Roses, newly inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Foo Fighters, KISS and DWP’s most requested band, KORN,” says Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents. “We’re looking forward to breaking records at THE WORLD CENTER OF ROCK with you, see you in 2022!”

The festival also served as a finale to DWP’s 2021 festival season, which saw over 500,000 attendees across four events in the United States. Additionally, Rockville served as the conclusion of DWP’s partnership with metal legends Metallica, who performed two sets at the festival—first playing a massive set of hits on Friday (Nov. 12), followed by a special 30th anniversary performance of the group’s seminal Black Album.

To mark the occasion, DWP founder Danny Wimmer presented Metallica with a $25,000 check for the band’s All Within My Hands foundation—an organization dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
