Daytona Beach, FL - Two members of the Volusia County Council will have a chance to fix water quality problems across the state.
District 2's Billie Wheeler (left) and Deb Denys (right) of District 3 have been named to the Water Policy Committee under the Florida Association of Counties.
They and 35 other county leaders from around Florida will help craft rules and regulations across all levels of government to safeguard the Sunshine State's coastline and natural resources, according to FAC President and Hendry County Commissioner Karson Turner.
“A number of local leaders from across the state stepped forward to participate,” Turner added. “This committee represents the diverse water needs from every water basin in the state and their commitment to their communities and willingness to address these recurring issues head-on.”
The Water Policy Committee will also work with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and other state leaders to ensure those rules and regulations are applied.
The committee will meet for the first time during the association’s Legislative Day in Leon County on March 27th.
