You Can Help Collect Data For FWC Recreational Fisheries

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - If you're an avid angler, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission wants to hear from you and there are multiple ways to do so.

The FWC collects information through mail surveys, dockside interviews, and even a phone app. Go to Fisheries.NOAA.gov to find out more about the Marine Recreational Information Program Survey, which is done by mail.

Dockside interviews are conducted by FWC biologists at random sites, such as boat ramps, marinas, and docks. You can also download the iAngler smartphone app to log your catches and help fisheries science.

FWC biologists may ask to collect data from fish that you've caught and either harvested or released. If you catch a fish that's already been tagged, call the FWC Tag Hotline at 800-367-4461 or by email.

By using any of these data collection programs, you can help the FWC manage the state's recreational fishery, one of the largest in the country.

Questions about marine fisheries regulations, improving recreational data or catch-and-release can be directed to FWC.
