Daytona Beach, FL - With health, safety and sanitation on the forefront of a lot of minds lately, the team at Daytona Beach International Airport is looking to make it all a bit easier with their brand new initiative.

Their efforts will blend together a number of enhanced safety practices such as deep cleaning, disinfection, social distancing, sanitizer stations and public messaging under the new initiative, which is known as the "Ready to Fly" initiative.

Airport staff began deep cleaning and sanitizing the facility back in March, with special attention paid to high-touch surfaces. Additionally, new hand sanitizer stations were placed around the airport.

Transparent barriers were also installed at customer service points, ticket counters, rental car counters and retail shops. Soon, signs will also be installed around the airport to remind passengers about social distancing guidelines and hygiene guidelines.

“Daytona Beach International Airport is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for travelers,” said Airport Director Rick Karl. “Passengers can feel confident in the safety measures in place. As a smaller airport, it’s much easier to keep your social distance.”

In the coming months, passengers may also receive a personal care kit provided by the airport. Those kits will include hand sanitizer and a face covering. Daytona's two main airlines, Delta and American, both require passengers to wear face coverings during their flights.

Other airlines may have specific guidelines. Please check with your carrier and plan your travel accordingly.
