DELTONA, Fla. - 47 year-old Fabiola Robles was arrested in Deltona this week, for allegedly lying about a drowning child to get police out for a noise complaint. The incident occurred on Thursday, June 8th.
According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, a 911 call was placed claiming a child was drowning near the caller's home "My next-door neighbor's kid is drowning right now," Robles reportedly said to the dispatcher. The VSO said she provided details on where to send emergency responders.
On the way to the scene, a patrol car with two deputies was t-boned at the intersection of Providence Blvd and Fort Smith Blvd, injuring both and landing them in the hospital. The two were hurt for what would turn out to not even involve a drowning.
Deputies and members of the Deltona Fire Department, Florida Highway Patrol, and Volusia County EMS arrived on-scene and realized quickly that no child was drowning. The neighbor whose house the drowning was said to be happening at told deputies that Robles had been complaining about the children's noise throughout the day. Furthermore, no pool or other body of water existed at the neighbor's property - only an inflatable water slide.
Robles reportedly admitted her fabrication to deputies when they came to speak to her, and again complained about the noise the children had been making. She was arrested this past Wednesday on one charge of misuse of 911, and posted her $5,000 bond shortly thereafter. She was also arrested and charged for battery in 2018.
