Daytona Beach City Commission to Consider Millage Rate, Budget

Posted

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Daytona Beach City Commission on Wednesday is set to consider the adoption of the city's millage rate and city budget for the fiscal year 2023/24. The agenda for that day's business meeting contains a public hearing on the issue in which residents can offer their input before the matter is voted on.

The millage rate currently being considered is 5.4300, equivalent to $5.43 in taxes for every $1,000 in assessed taxable property value. This is the same rate property owners are already paying now, but it would constitute a tax increase for those whose property values have appreciated in the last year.

In the same agenda item, the City Commission will also conduct a public hearing on the adoption of the city's tentative budget for the fiscal year of October 1st, 2023 to September 30th, 2024. The city is currently projecting revenues of $332,679,696, and is proposing a balanced budget in which expenditures will be the same number.

Residents with input on these and other relevant city issues will have the opportunity to make their thoughts known to the City Commission this Wednesday, September 6th, at 6:00 pm. The meeting will take place at Daytona Beach City Hall, 301 S Ridgewood Ave.
